WHAT MAKES ORON DIFFERENT FROM OUR STANDARD YURTS:

  1. Matte Finish Outer Cover: Durable, waterproof, and UV-resistant. Ideal for harsh Aussie & NZ conditions.
  2. Hemp Cotton Interior liner: ORON is lined with a natural hemp-cotton fabric available in 9 tones to suit your individual style.
  3. Solid Timber frame: Hand made heavy duty frames 60% heavier than our standard Yurts
  4. Thicker Roof Rafters: Heavy duty rafters extend from wall frame to central compression ring.
  5. Larger Dome skylight: Clear or Tinted 10mm thick acrylic dome skylight provides plenty of natural light into the yurt. Strong enough to stand on.
  6. Dome Ventilation: Opening spindle for venting the skylight dome.
  7. Floor to Ceiling Standard Windows: Standard cantilever opening window (900mm wide x full height) included with each Yurt. Additional windows optional.
  8. Curved Glass Bay Windows:  Fixed frame bay windows (1600mm wide x full height) are optional. Can also be joined together to create incredible panoramic views.
  9. 5 Premium Door options: Your choice of 5 French Door options included. Additional doors can be added on, including solid 900mm doors for adjoining bathrooms etc.
  10. Improved Insulation:  High Density Wool Felt insulation between inner lining and outer yurt cover. Double insulation options for colder climates like TAS. We also have reflective air-cell insulation available great for hotter climates.

SHIPPING AND LEAD TIME

Shipping to your nearest port is included (Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane) however final delivery will be an additional cost (we will arrange on your behalf) or you may collect from the port warehouse with a suitable trailer or own courier.

Tasmania and New Zealand Orders incur an additional shipping fee but usually $1,500 or less.

Lead time is approximately 8 – 12 weeks from order to delivery. Please get in touch if you have a specific deadline or want to discuss current lead times.

Warranty

ORON comes with a 3-year warranty on the frame and cover. This warranty covers any defects in materials or workmanship that may arise during normal and intended use of the product. Please note that the warranty does not cover any normal wear and tear, man-made damage or natural disasters, such as but not limited to fires, floods or storms. See FAQ page for full terms.

These are not included and will need to be arranged separately. Get in touch to request our decking plans. Alternatively you could pour a circular concrete pad or other raised surface.

VERSATILE USE

Yurts and Geo Domes are used for a wide range of spaces - from guest accommodation and glamping stays to studios, retreats and creative workspaces. If you’re planning a private space, tourism stay or studio, they offer a simple way to create something unique without a conventional build.
  

Difficulty

Your Yurt or Dome is fairly simple to build and can usually be done in a few short days with simple tools, depending on how handy you are. The most difficult part is placing the outer cover over the frame. The outer cover is heavy and will need 3 – 4 people to lift for the larger diameter sizes. You will need a large A-frame ladder or a scaffold to reach up to dome height.

Straight answers to your top questions

What about council approvals?

Council rules for yurts and domes vary widely across Australia. Many councils classify them as temporary structures not requiring approval, but this isn’t guaranteed. We market our products as ‘glamping tents,’ but local regulations still apply based on your intended use.

Key considerations:

  • Your deck/platform may require approval even if the structure doesn’t
  • For tourism/glamping businesses, we’ve successfully obtained approvals and can connect you with experienced planners
  • For residential use, be aware that yurts/domes don’t currently comply with Australian Building Standards
  • Rural and off-grid properties typically face fewer restrictions

We recommend checking with your local council about your specific situation before purchasing.

How long do they last?

Our Yurt and Geo Dome outer covers usually last 7 years before needing replacement (a replacement cover at that stage will cost approximately $2,000 delivered depending on size). The frame, doors, and windows can last 15+ years with proper maintenance.

Where are your products made?

We manufacture our products in China and import to Australia & NZ. We consistently refine our Yurts and Domes here in WA. We are hands-on with client builds and visit our manufacturing facility often to ensure the quality of our products

Do you have building/installation services?

Most clients install themselves with friends or family. We provide decking plans, comprehensive guides and phone support. For the sub-frame/base, some expertise may be needed but many of our clients have also built their own decks. We can offer installation in South-West WA and have a growing network of installers across Australia & NZ we can connect you with.

Can I see one before I buy?

Yes. We have some display models in Southwest, WA and a growing network of customers across Australia who can show you their setups. You may even book a night with one of our Air Bnb clients. Also check out our client videos and detailed photos. To visualize the size, use a stake and rope to mark out the diameter on your property.

Do you offer finance?

Yes, we are partnered with Great Escape Finance who can offer Yurt or Dome purchases usually from around $300 per month. Get in touch through our contact form to discuss your options

What wind rating do they have?

Yurts and Domes are inherently strong in windy conditions due to their round shape. They can typically handle up to 100km/h winds. Domes are technically stronger than Yurts. Both Yurts and Domes disperse the wind load evenly around the structure. They are not cyclone rated however and are not warrantied against severe weather damage. But they are used all over the world in some very harsh climates and have stood the test of time.

What about Mold and Mildew?

Our Yurts and Domes use mold resistant materials and are well insulated and ventilated. The outer covers are made from a durable double coated 850gsm PVC which is fully waterproof if installed correctly. Our domes have a reflective bubble-cell insulation whereas our Yurts have a 10mm thick synthetic felt which is mold resistant. Both have glass opening windows and vents on the roof. All of this means our products don’t suffer from mold and mildew like traditional Yurts used to where the canvas would eventually hold moisture. It’s still possible to get mold if the Yurt or Dome is not kept clean and inspected for leaks or dampness, but most of our clients around Australia & NZ have had no problem managing it.
