We get asked "how much is a yurt?" more than anything else. The honest answer is that the kit price is only part of it. Here's every ORON price as it stands, what's in it, and what else you'll be paying for.
How much does each ORON size cost?
| Diameter | Floor area | Price, ex GST | Roughly per sqm |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5m | 20 sqm | $14,350 | $718 |
| 6m | 30 sqm | $16,490 | $550 |
| 7m | 40 sqm | $18,980 | $475 |
| 8m | 50 sqm | $20,980 | $420 |
| 9m | 63 sqm | $27,900 | $443 |
| 10m | 80 sqm | $32,090 | $401 |
| 12m | 100m² | On application | On application |
A couple of things jump out. Bigger gets cheaper per square metre: a 10m costs about $401 per sqm against $718 for a 5m. And the 9m is where the price steps up and the wall height goes from 1.9m to 2.1m. The 12m keeps that 2.1m wall, with 100m² of floor and 6m under the centre of the dome, and is priced on application. If you're torn between two sizes, the per sqm number is worth a look.
On top of that, the current ORON 10% offer takes 10% off the listed prices. The ORON page has the details, or just ask our team when you call.

What does a typical ORON order add up to?
Here's one way a 7m guest stay might come together. It's an example, not a quote.

| One extra standard window | $890 |
| One curved glass bay window | $1,250 |
| Double insulation | $750 |
| Total, ex GST | $21,870 |
| GST (10%) | $2,187 |
| Total, inc GST | $24,057 |
What other costs should I budget for?
The kit is the big number, but it isn't the whole project. Plan for these too:
- Your platform. A level, solid base the same diameter as the yurt. A timber deck is the most popular choice and we give you the decking plans. A concrete slab works too. Costs depend a lot on your site, slope and whether you build it yourself.
- Final delivery. Shipping to the port warehouse is included. Getting it from there to your site isn't. We can arrange it for you, or you can collect it with a suitable trailer or your own courier.
- Tasmania and New Zealand freight. There's an extra shipping fee, usually $1,500 or less.
- Installation, if you don't DIY. Most clients build it themselves with our decking plans, video instructions and project guidance. If you'd rather not, full deck-and-yurt builds are available in Perth and around Australia through a network of builders we connect people with.
- Fit-out and services. Flooring, furniture, kitchen or bathroom, power and water. This is where budgets vary the most, so price it early.
- GST on top of the listed prices.
How do payment and finance work?
You pay a 50% deposit to place your order and the balance before it ships. Everything is priced in AUD ex GST. We're also NZ registered, so we can invoice in NZD.
Finance is available for eligible purchases, usually starting from around $500 a month, through our finance partner. Have a chat with them or with our team and we'll work out whether it suits you.
Why does ORON cost more than a basic yurt?
Because nearly every part is heavier or better. The frame carries 60% more timber than our standard yurts. The rafters are thicker. The doors and windows are hardwood, the glazing runs floor to ceiling, the liner is natural hemp-cotton and the skylight is 10mm acrylic you could stand on.
That shows up over time. Our covers usually last around 7 years, and a replacement then is roughly $2,000 delivered depending on size. The frame, doors and windows can go 15 years or more with simple maintenance. ORON also carries a 3-year warranty on the frame and cover.
We have built 5 yurts so far and have 9 planned in total. We have just built the first of the latest ORON model and I must say the quality is exceptional and a huge step up from the earlier model which we already loved. Their yurts are built from years of personal experience and the results are testament to that.
